Immediately give Arnica or Aconitum for 2nd or 3rd degree burns to ease shock. Then, after cooling the burn with cold water, start Cantharis 30C for pain.
Dosage: If you do not have the recommended dosage, 6C, 12X, 12C or 30C can be substituted. See the Dosage Chart for guidance.
- When symptoms improve, stop taking the remedy.
- Repeat if symptoms return
- In acute cases, if no improvement after 2-3 doses, try a different remedy
Note: For severe burns, remedies can be taken while enroute to the hospital and afterwards. For minor burns, if a self-selected remedy – however well indicated – doesn’t help and the burn does not heal or gets worse, you need to seek professional care.
Note: If soaking gauze in tincture, keep the gauze wet or it will stick to the burn and be very painful to remove.
Note: Tinctures of Calendula/Hypericum to ease pain and hasten healing – can be made by dissolving one dose in 4 ounces of clean water, let dissolve, shake vigorously, and mist on the burn or soak gauze in it. Keep out of sunlight and away from electricity. Replace every 2-3 days.
